A Family Tradition for More than 100 years!
Morton’s Warm Springs Resort is rich in beauty, history and tradition. Originally a site of the Wappo Indians, the tribe recognized the healing properties of the mineral springs and considered these waters sacred. As settlers came into Sonoma Valley they were equally attracted to the water.
In the late 1800’s a bathhouse was created with a tub surrounded by burlap walls and a roof. By the early 1900’s, Los Guilicos Pavilion was built here by an early land company, attracting weekenders from the San Francisco Bay Area who stayed overnight in cottages.
In 1938, Harold and Ethel Morton purchased it and changed the name to Morton’s Warm Springs. After more than thirty years of operation that established Morton’s as a well-known center, they passed the resort on.
Today, the natural beauty of the land and water remains intact. The tradition of Morton’s lives on today as families continue to enjoy this diverse property. Morton’s offers over 20 unique picnic sites, 3 mineral swimming pools, sports fields and can accommodate large groups from 25 to 2000 guests. Walk along the winding creek and natural pathways to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this historic gathering place. 707-833-5511 Click here to visit their web site
Meet the Artist Michael Holland
Michael has been creating art for over 30 years from billboard
style paintings, and eclectic sculptured installations to his current energetic
landscapes reflecting his personal admiration of exaggerated color, especially
the sun drenched environments of Mexico and California.
A
long time local resident of Sonoma, Michael has been a recipient of grants from
the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council.
His
paintings are created through a series of layered glazes giving a complex surface
to simple compositions. Shadows are created with purpose, giving depth and a feeling
that something is going on beneath the surface.
