The Sugarloaf State Park grounds include over 20 miles of trail though oak groves, meadows, and redwood forests around Sonoma Creek. In spring and summer the days are warm to hot with very cool nights. In the winter below the campground is a 25-foot waterfall. Springtime wildflowers abound.

Directions from the Sonoma Plaza: Travel time: 30 minutes
From the south side of the Plaza, take Highway 12 west (West Napa Street). Pass Verano Avenue and continue on Highway 12 for approximately 10 miles. Turn right onto Adobe Canyon Road and follow it to the end.

Directions from the Sonoma Plaza: Travel time: 20 minutes
From the south side of the Plaza, take Highway 12 west (West Napa Street). Pass Verano Avenue and continue on Highway 12 for approximately 7 miles. Turn left onto Arnold Drive and drive into the village of Glen Ellen. Veer right onto Jack London Ranch road and follow it to the end.

Marina & Boat Launching

The Hudeman Slough boat launch is isolated and there are no nearby services available. The launch can accommodate boats up to 24 feet and the free parking lot has 20 parking spaces.

Directions from the Sonoma Plaza: Travel time: 20 minutes
From the south side of the Plaza at the "T" intersection, go south on Broadway to the end. Turn left onto Highway 121 (east). At Ramal Road turn right. Follow it approximately 5 miles to Skaggs Island Road and turn right.

Pétanque & Bocce Ball

Directions to the court from the Sonoma Plaza
From the north side of the Plaza, on the left side of the Toscano Hotel, walk through the courtyard to the back parking lot. At the far end of the parking lot is Depot Park and the pétanque & bocce ball courts.

Skateboarding

Macdougald Skate Park
Corner of Verano Avenue and Highway 12 at Maxwell Farms Regional Park
Largest skate park in the county. Operated by the City of Sonoma. Open dawn 'till dusk. Bring helmet and safety gear.

Directions from the Sonoma Plaza: Travel time: 10 minutes. From the south side of the Plaza, take Highway 12 west (West Napa Street) to Verano Avenue. Left on Verano, then continue into the parking lot on the left.

From the north side of the Plaza, take 1st Street West northward to the police station. From the police station parking lot, walk to the Field of Dreams beyond, or take the bike path from Depot Park.

From the south side of the Plaza, take Highway 12 west (West Napa Street). Pass Verano Avenue and continue on Highway 12. Turn left onto Boyes Boulevard, then right onto Greger Street. Turn left on Lichtenberg Avenue and right on DeChene Avenue. Follow DeChene Avenue to the end and into Larson Park.

Maxwell Farms Regional Park
Two tennis courts, open year round, no lights

Directions from the Sonoma Plaza: Travel time: 10 minutes
From the Plaza, head west on Highway 12 (West Napa Street) to Verano Avenue. Turn left onto Verano and turn left into the Maxwell Farms parking lot. The tennis courts face the highway in the southeastern corner of the grounds.
